Some 2000 South Korean nationals are Muslims, along with followers of Islam who have moved to the East Asian country from elsewhere; currently some 200,000 Muslims live in South Korea.
This is according to Kim Kwang-Jun, the secretary general of the Korean Conference of Religions for Peace.
He said that the Korean Conference (KCRP) of Religions for Peace make efforts to enhance their knowledge about Muslims so as to prevent misunderstanding about followers of Islam in society.
He added that the KCRP plans to hold a seminar on Islam aimed at promoting the understanding about Islam and Muslims.
According to Kim Kwang-Jun, the main mission of the Korean Conference of Religions for Peace is to combat religious extremism and to prevent issues that lead to extremism.
