Ten kilometres north of the holy shrine of Imam Hussain, sets the shrine of Awn, the son of Lady Zaynab, peace be upon her.Awn ibn Abdullah ibn Ja‘far was one of the companions of Imam Hussain at Karbala. As the pilgrim arrives at Karbala from thedirection of Baghdad, they will see the glorious blue dome of the nephew of the Master of Martyrs.
The shrine is surrounded by a brick wall six metres high inscribed with verses from the Holy Qur’an.
