The Hill of Zaynab is the site where the Lady Zaynab, peace be upon her, stood and witnessed the martyrdom of her brother, Imam Hussain. When Ibn Ziyad’s army set fire to the tents in which the Imam’s family were sheltering in, she called out to him to save them, but alas there was no reply because her brother had been slaughtered. The hill is located 10 meters west of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain and is marked for visitors by its dome and banners invoking peace upon Lady Zaynab.
