The minarets of Sayed Mohammad Holy Shrine have been gilded, as announced by Deya’ Majeed al-Saegh, head of the Engineering Projects Department of al-Abbas Holy Shrine, on May 21.

“The second and final phase of the minaret gilding project of the holy shrine of Sayed Mohammad ibn Imam Ali al-Hadi, in Balad, was achieved by professional Iraqi workers and according to top technical specifications, starting from the tile manufacturing, its gilding, and up to its installation,” stated al-Saegh.

The first phase of the project included gilding the upper parts of the minarets, finial and the Muezzin's balcony with the inscription of Quranic verses from Surah al-Noor in gold enamel. The second and final phase includes the Quranic inscription of verse 105 of Surah al-Anbiya composed of 18 copper tiles plated with gold and blue enamel in addition to covering the two minarets with Karbala'I tile, which is characterized by its high technical specifications in terms of thickness, color stability and resistance to extreme weather conditions.

Twenty-five kilograms of gold and 2268 kilograms of copper were used in the gold tiles that were manufactured by the Gilding Division staff of the Engineering Projects Department.

The project will be unveiled on Wednesday, Sha'baan 27 corresponding to May 24, 2017, in a stately ceremony in the shrine of Sayed Mohammad.
