Karbala witnesses longest banner of grief carried by multiple nationalities and sects

The holy city of Karbala has witnessed the arrival of a mourning procession carrying the longest banner of sorrow in the world, measuring a length of 4000 meters, with the participation of mourners of different nationalities and sects including Sunnis, Shias, Arabs, Christians and Turkmen, as well as academic figures, clerics, tribal sheikhs and security forces from Diyala province.

The delegation was presided by Adnan Yassin Abbas al-Temimi who stressed that Diyala province has, for the fifth consecutive year, carried the banner of Imam Hussein, which is considered the longest banner of sorrow in the world with the participation of different tribes and sects.

 

“It is a message of peace and a guide of love and brotherhood to all parts of Iraq and all its sects,” described al-Temimi.
