Agnès S. Callamard, the Special Rapporteur on extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions at the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) stated that she had the honor of visiting the Holy Shrine of Imam Ali in the holy city of Najaf, Iraq.
In a statement to the Media Center of the Holy Shrine, Callamard said, “It is my first visit to this holy place. I am happy for seeing these historical and ritual atmospheres.”
Moreover, she visited two of the four supreme religious authorities namely Sayyid Ali al-Sistani and Sayyid Mohammad Sa’eed al-Hakim.
